It seems to me that deterring crime or any other destructive behavior is a matter of by passing the Ego and dealing with the core of who we are as Humans. I Know, I know, that’s hard to do when someone has such a large ego and is unconscious to it, especially when that person wants to hurt or kill you.
however, the solution lies within the God Consciousness that is in us. We will need to evolve to this level of awareness, otherwise we will be building more prisons and larger Churches. More Dogma or more of the same “Old Stuff” is not going to solve our problems.
We need a fundamental shift in understanding who God has made us to be. That will take IMHO, moving away from Conventional Christian thought, one in which we are Anthropomorphizing God into a bigger version of our Ego, thereby making God powerless and outside of us. God becomes a “He” and somehow is caught up into the human drama trying to save us while at the same time “He” is fighting off a great evil force.
Life becomes a struggle of the Dualistic Good and Bad, we have become our own Puppet Masters or at least our egos have. We are Slaves to our stories, where God now has to sacrifice his very own to deliver us from this self inflicted drama as if that is going to work. But this is what we believe as Christians, a Virgin Born Jesus, never mind the fact that Marry was not born of a virgin herself, Nor is her Humanity or Biology dealt with, this never gets factored into the story. but he has to die for the Death Row Inmate in order to save him.
My prayer has become that of “Oh God save us” to “Oh God, Save us from your people”.
